Over the last few months there have been a number of changes to the membership of the Kinetica Advisory Committee. As a result, the Advisory Committee has several new faces whom we would like to introduce to Kinetica customers and the library community.
Patricia Scott
Patricia Scott was recently elected by Kinetica customer libraries to represent them on the Kinetica Advisory Committee. Patricia has been elected for a term of three years. Patricia replaces Philip Keane who represented the special libraries. We wish Philip well.
Patricia is the Bibliographic Services Librarian at the University of Adelaide and has been a member of a number of advisory groups working on specific Kinetica issues and an active member of the South Australian User Group. In addition to this involvement with Kinetica developments, Patricia actively represents Adelaide University in the advisory process for the National Chinese, Japanese and Korean Service.
Doreen Parker
Doreen Parker has been nominated by the Council of Australian University Librarians (CAUL) to represent them on the Committee. Doreen replaces Marian Bate, who retired from the position and who made significant contributions and represented the university community well on this Committee.
Doreen has been University Librarian at Victoria University of Technology since 1992. Prior to this Doreen was Chief Librarian at the Footscray Institute of Technology and Principal Librarian (Technical Services) at the University of Melbourne. Doreen has also held various appointments in academic and public libraries in Australia, Iran and the United Kingdom.
Doreen has a special interest in the use of information and communications technology to deliver library services and information resources to clients. She has had a long association with the National Library of Australia. In the 1970s she worked with National Library of Australia staff in setting up the Australian MARC record service that was run at Libramatic Systems prior to its transfer to the National Library of Australia. In the early 1980s she was a founding member of the Standards Committee for the Australian Bibliographic Network, Kineticas predecessor.
Currently Doreen is a member of a number of committees including chairing the LIDDAS interlibrary loans system through CAVAL; member of the Australian Academic Research Library Network (AARLIN) Portal Steering Committee and chairs the CAVAL Victorian Academic Digital Library (VADL) Committee.

In this role she leads the development of the Librarys overall Corporate Plan and is accountable for conceptualising and directing State Library strategies for information management, information communications and technology (ICT), research, quality and policy development within the NSW government legislative framework.
Prior to joining the State Library in November 1996 Maxine was Associate University Librarian (Resources) at the University of Technology, Sydney, where she played an active part over many years in IT Strategic Planning for both the Library and the University, including the design of new buildings and facilities.
Maxine has a strong professional interest in the role of IT in improving client service and has published several papers on library/IT planning and service issues. She is a member of the NSW Government Information Management Framework Working Party and the Standards Association of Australia Committee IT/19.
Craig Anderson
Craig has been selected to represent the public libraries on the Kinetica Advisory Committee. Craig replaces Meredith Wallace who has made a significant contribution to the national agenda for resource sharing from the perspective of public libraries
Craig Anderson, is the Chief Executive Officer of the Yarra Plenty Regional Library, a position that he has held since 1994. Prior to joining Yarra Plenty Regional Library, Craig had worked for CLSI/GEAC computers, City of Coburg Library and Peninsula Regional Library.
