The 29th meeting of the Conference of Directors of National Libraries (CDNL) was hosted by the National Library of Scotland in Edinburgh on Wednesday 21 August 2002. Eighty-eight directors or deputies of national libraries travelled from Glasgow for the meeting. For the first time a representative from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea attended CDNL. The meeting included a discussion on the future of the IFLA Core Activity Programs and the work of the CDNL Committee on Digital Issues. Presentations on topics of interest to CDNL were made by the National Library Board of Singapore on providing public library services; the National Library of China on their extensive digitisation program; the building of a new national library in Latvia and on the collaborative digital reference service, QuestionPoint by the Library of Congress. The 30th meeting of
the Conference of Directors of National Libraries
will take place during IFLA in Berlin
on Wednesday 6 August 2003.
