The Kinetica Advisory Committee provides advice on strategic and policy issues affecting the delivery of the Kinetica service, the broad direction of service development and changes occurring in the library community which are likely to affect services. As well as three people elected by and from the entire library membership of the Kinetica service, the Committee is made up of members from key stakeholder groups including the public, special and academic library sectors. Two new members have been appointed to the Committee—John Arfield and May Priddle
John Arfield who recently joined the Kinetica Advisory Committee as a representative of the Council of Australian University Libraries, has been the University Librarian at the University of Western Australia since 1996. Previously, he held the positions of University Librarian at Loughborough University and Deputy University librarian at the University of Reading in the United Kingdom. John’s career has been in academic libraries since the early 1970s. He has published widely including areas such as flexible learning in higher education and information strategies and has particular interests in collection development and the use of information technologies to support the information needs of learning and research.
May Priddle’s career spans approximately 35 years and her membership reflects representation from government libraries. Currently she is Manager, Information and Records Services at the Department of the Treasury in Canberra. Previously she was the Manager of Information Services in the same Department. In a varied career, May has worked in academic and public libraries as well as having been very active in various roles within ALIA, FLIN, the Kinetica ACT User Group and the GEAC Advance User Group. May received the Doreen Goodman Award from the Library and Information Studies program at the University of Canberra in 2000.
