Braga Family Visit and Presentation

On 2 December several relatives of the late J.M.(Jack) Braga visited the Library. Jack Braga was a businessman, teacher and writer, whose major collection on the Portuguese in Asia is held at the National Library of Australia. The Braga Collection contains books, many of them rare works, as well as manuscripts, paintings, photographs, maps, newspapers and journals.

The family members who visited included three of Jack Braga’s daughters, Angela Ablong, Maria Braga and Dr Theresa Millar as well as Theresa’s husband
Dr Lesley Millar and their grandsons Josh and Andrew. During the visit the group looked at Braga items in Asian Collections, Manuscripts, Pictures and Maps. At an afternoon tea hosted by the Director General, Jan Fullerton, Angela Ablong kindly donated some additional material relating to her father’s life and work.
