| Elizabeth Ellis Joins the Kinetica Advisory Committee | ||
The Kinetica Advisory Committee provides advice on strategic and policy issues affecting the delivery of the Kinetica service, the broad direction of service development and changes occurring in the library community which are likely to affect services. As well as three people elected by and from the entire library membership of the Kinetica service, the Committee is made up of members from key stakeholder groups including the public, special and academic library sectors. Elizabeth Ellis, who recently joined the Committee as a representative of the Council of Australian State Libraries, has been employed at the State Library of New South Wales since 1985. In 2002 she was appointed Mitchell Librarian and Director, Collection Management. Her previous positions at the library include Manager, Original Materials Branch and Curator of Pictures. She began her career in libraries in 1971 at the National Library of Australia and held the position of Curator of Maps there from 1976–77. On moving to Sydney, she worked as a commercial researcher in the field of Australiana from 1979 to 1984. She has written and lectured extensively on aspects of Australian historical collections over the past two decades. Elizabeth took a lead role in the development of PICMAN, the State Library of New South Wales’ database of original materials, and the Australian Pictorial Thesaurus, and has been actively involved in PictureAustralia and collaborations between the State and National Libraries for the Register of Australian Archives and Manuscripts. She joined the Kinetica Advisory Committee in March 2003 as the representative
for the Council of Australian State Libraries, replacing long serving
Committee member Kaye Hill of the State Library of Western Australia. |
