Copies Direct Continues to Expand Copies Direct, the new National Library initiative introduced last December, is progressing nicely. This one-stop shop document delivery service for individuals now includes online order options for the Library’s oral history audiorecordings. The online order form is the central feature of Copies Direct, allowing users to order not only photocopies but also digital copies of articles, manuscripts, maps, music, transcripts, audiorecordings and other materials. The service will, if requested, source material from other libraries, where the National Library does not hold the item. Copies Direct continues to grow and will soon include an ordering service for photographic images. We are also planning Web delivery of copies in the near future, so watch this space. Since it was launched at the end of last year, Copies Direct has been used by people from all over the world. Copies are requested online, and primarily delivered the same way. The majority of copies produced from the National Library’s general and special collections—such as Australian and overseas newspapers, manuscripts, oral history recordings and transcripts, and music—have been supplied to users in PDF, JPEG or TIFF formats. The staff in the Library’s Document Delivery Service are committed to providing a quality service. More information about Copies Direct can be found at <www.nla.gov.au/copiesdirect>. |
