Overview and Highlights of the Kinetica Annual Users’ Meeting

Two hundred and twenty-seven delegates attended the 2003 Kinetica Annual Users’ Meeting (KAUM) which was held at the Stamford Grand Hotel in Glenelg, South Australia, 21–22 August 2003. This year a local committee of five South Australian librarians assisted Kinetica staff with the organisation of the KAUM. Their local knowledge contributed significantly to the efficient planning and execution of the meeting.

KAUM this year introduced three special features—the Innovation Award, a tour of the State Library of South Australia and a series of workshops which were widely appreciated. The Innovation Award was presented to the library, information service or organisation which had, in the opinion of the judging panel, made the most innovative use of Kinetica. Our inaugural winner was the State Library of Tasmania for its web based service ‘Our Digital Island’. Four workshops were offered to KAUM participants on the final afternoon of the meeting. These workshops were also open to local library staff who didn’t attend the KAUM.

Due to the professionalism of the chair, Bronwyn Halliday, the seaside location, the helpful staff at the Stamford Grand, and the breadth and variety of papers, the overwhelming response from participants was that this was one of the most successful Kinetica Annual Users’ Meetings.
