11th Meeting of the Conference of Directors of National Libraries in Asia and Oceania

The 11th meeting of the Conference of Directors of National Libraries of Asia and Oceania (CDNLAO) was held in Brunei Darussalam in conjunction with the 12th meeting of the Congress of Southeast Asian Librarians (CONSAL).
The first meeting of CDNLAO was held at the National Library of Australia in 1979 and was held every three years until 2000 when it became an annual event. The aims of the meeting are to:
The 11th meeting was held on 19 October in Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei Darussalam, and was attended by representatives from Australia, Brunei Darussalam, China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam. The meeting discussed developments in library services in the region, in particular the increasing demand for access to online information. Presentations were made by the National Diet Library on the new Kansai-Kan library; the National Library of Indonesia on the ‘Presidential Library at Blitar’ which celebrates the life of President Sukarno; the National Library Board of Singapore on their ‘Infoserv products and services’, and by the National Library of Malaysia on a recent survey of CDNLAO libraries and their use of performance indicators.
