A Public Library Leader Joins the Kinetica Advisory Committee

The Kinetica Advisory Committee provides advice on strategic and policy issues affecting the delivery of the Kinetica service, the broad direction of service development and changes occurring in the library community, which are likely to affect services. As well as three people elected by and from the entire library membership of the Kinetica service, the Committee is made up of members from key stakeholder groups including the academic, special and public library sectors.

Dr Naida Tattersall brings a wealth of experience to Kinetica’s Advisory Committee. Having gained qualifications in education, human resources and librarianship, she has held various positions in special, school, TAFE and public libraries. In addition Naida has held academic positions at the University of British Columbia and the University of Alberta where she obtained a Doctorate of Philosophy. Naida represents public libraries on the Committee and replaces Craig Anderson who recently took up the position of University Librarian at the RMIT University.

In her current position as Manager of Libraries, Social and Cultural Branch at the Gold Coast City Council, Naida is responsible for the operation of the second largest public library service in Australia which includes 18 branch libraries two of which are mobiles. Prior to this, she was Director, Human Resource Development at the Office of the Commissioner for Public Employment in the Northern Territory where she was responsible for providing strategic advice to chief executive officers and senior managers of the Northern Territory Public Sector. Naida has also been an active participant on a number of national working parties and boards and has undertaken consultancy work in Australia and overseas where she has provided advice and direction on organisational change.

At a time when public libraries are being recognised as significant players in delivering information to all Australians, Naida’s role on the Kinetica Advisory Committee is both timely and highly valued.
