Walk for
the Cure
Any given day of the working week you can catch a glimpse of National
Library staff taking their daily constitutional around Lake Burley Griffin.
Often it is purely for the benefit of their own health, but on Sunday
19 October 25 staff members walked for another reason—to raise funds for
the 100 000 Australians affected by juvenile diabetes. They slip, slap,
slopped and marched the almost 5 kms (bridge-to-bridge) around the Lake
and donated close to $4000 to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Joining
them on the ‘Walk for the Cure’ were Jasper, the Jelly Bean Mascot of
the Foundation, and hundreds of other community-spirited Canberrans. They
finished the day off with music, dancing and a good feeling inside! |
