Ariel

One of this most efficient methods of delivering documents to libraries is via Ariel. This software, developed by the Research Library Group (RLG), is available through Infotrieve.

Ariel addresses come in two forms:

Please ensure your requests include clear delivery instructions. Writing your Ariel address on your request will ensure prompt delivery. If you have an ArielL address and are still receiving your documents in the post please let us know.

In some instances we are unable to send your documents via Ariel as requested. This is usually due to the size i.e. larger than A4, or that the material is from a tightly bound volume. If this is the case we will send the item via post, indicating the reason for the change in delivery method. If on occasion you do not require the item to be sent by Ariel—e.g. when you require a clean copy to add to your collection to replace a missing item—please clearly indicate this on your request.

Ariel Web is a recent addition to the range of delivery methods used by the Library. Documents are scanned using Ariel but then document copy is saved as a PDF file on our website. An email is sent to you to indicate how you can ‘collect’ the document from our website. Again, if you require this service please write ‘Ariel Web’ on your request. Ariel Web costs the same as our regular Ariel service.
