Document Supply Service Tours
Three library tours were organised as part of the Interlending and Document Supply International Conference held at the National Library between 28 and 31 October. Over 100 delegates visited the Document Supply Service located on the lower ground 2 level of the National Library, which also houses most of the stack areas.
Of most interest to these visitors, a third of whom came from overseas, were our workflows, the Ariel workstation set-up, the compactus in the stack area, and ‘Charlie’. Charlie is a Transcar electronic trolley, which travels between stack areas, through the Document Supply Service area, aiding the delivery of books to and from the Main Reading Room on the ground floor.
Some of the questions asked were related to Australian copyright, how we handled payments that were not on systems such as the Kinetica Document Delivery Service and OCLC, what we will and will not lend and our Copies Direct service.
Great interest was shown in two excellent displays created by four staff members completing the Certificate II in Library and Information Services.
