Issues for Cultural Heritage Institutions
International Conference, 9-11 November 2004
Web resources form an important part of a nation’s documentary
and cultural heritage. Collecting institutions with responsibility for
providing long-term access to these resources face many issues in performing
their role effectively.
The National Library of Australia, with support from the
Australian Library and Information
Association (ALIA), is hosting an international conference,
Archiving Web Resources:
Issues for Cultural Heritage Institutions,
in November 2004. The conference aims to explore approaches and identify
the most important issues associated with collecting, managing and providing
ongoing access to web resources.
Over three days, from 9–11 November 2004, participants
will have the opportunity to
hear the views of leaders from organisations around the world with experience
and
knowledge of the issues in this area. The conference will also focus
on international research in
the field, including the work of the International Internet Preservation
Consortium (IIPC).
A one-day workshop following the conference will provide demonstrations
of
digital archiving tools and systems.
The conference, to be held at the National Library of
Australia in Canberra, will be of
interest and value to all people involved or interested in developing
and managing
national documentary heritage collections.
