AIATSIS joins PANDORA

To build PANDORA, Australia’s Web Archive, the National Library works with a number of partners, including all of the mainland state libraries, the Northern Territory Library, ScreenSound Australia, and the Australian War Memorial. Each of the partner agencies selects and archives Australian online publications and websites according to its area of collecting responsibility. The National Library collects titles of national significance, while the state and territory libraries collect titles of state/territory and regional interest. ScreenSound Australia specialises in sites relating to Australian film and music, and the Australian War Memorial archives sites relating to military history.

The contribution of numerous partners enables us together to build an Archive of both breadth and depth for the benefit of Australian researchers now and in the future.

The National Library is delighted to announce that the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS) is now to become the tenth PANDORA partner. AIATSIS will bring to the Archive its expertise in the area of the publications and websites relating to Australia’s Indigenous peoples, and will enrich the modest collection of 160 titles in this category already in the Archive. AIATSIS staff will receive training in the use of the PANDORA digital archiving system and will commence active participation within the next few months.
