A Closer Look at the Loan Policy of Document Supply Service There are times when we will not be able to lend material you request. As a general rule, most of the monographs in the National Library’s collection are available for loan, however restrictions apply on older, rare, special or fragile material. For items out of copyright it is possible to order a photocopy of the entire item. Categories of material not available for loan include: Australian material is usually available for loan however parts of the collection may not be available due to uniqueness and fragility. Serials and newspapers are usually not for loan. Exceptions include Acts of Parliament & Regulations, Occasional Papers, Conference Proceedings, Country Profiles & Reports, Monographs in Series, Parliamentary Papers, Working Papers, Yearbooks and microfilm versions of newspapers. Pictures are not for loan, however copies can be ordered through the National Library catalogues via Copies Direct. Microfilms, fiche, micro cards may be lent.
