The Year in Review
After the success of the ILDS Conference, held last October, the Document Supply Service was looking forward to a much quieter year. But while this year has not been as eventful, we have not stood still. Of particular note were the Final Forum of the National Resource Sharing Working Group (NRSWG) and Policy Committee (NRSPC), the improvements to Copies Direct and the User Satisfaction Survey carried out in July this year. The final forum of the NRSWG and NRSPC held in Canberrain July celebrated the achievements of the group and looked at areas of future development. These issues were discussed at length with representatives from all library sectors and a set of recommendations was agreed upon, with responsibility for each action assigned to a particular sector or individual. Progress on these actions and the identification of further issues will be discussed at a future meeting in 2005. The papers for the forum and the minutes of the meeting are located at: <www.nla.gov.au/initiatives/nrswg/finalforum.html>. Copies Direct was further enhanced to include photographic orders, and is now accessible from all of the National Library catalogues or directly from the Copies Direct homepage at <www.nla.gov.au/copiesdirect/index.html>.A number of libraries have contacted the National Library about the service, expressing interesting in offering similar options to their users. The Library commissioned a survey to gauge satisfaction with both the Document Supply and the Copies Direct Services. The results were very interesting and a summary of the report is available at: <www.nla.gov.au/initiatives/nrswg/usersurvey.html>. Overall, it was an interesting year. Merry Christmas from all of your
colleagues in the Document Supply Service.
