APAIS—Pay Per Search Through Libraries Australia The National Library and RMIT Publishing have entered into an agreement to enable small libraries to search APAIS (Australian Public Affairs Information Service) through the Libraries Australia interface and pay $2.80 per search. This offer is only available to small Australian libraries who are Kinetica members, and not state or academic libraries or New South Wales libraries accessing APAIS through NSW.Net. APAIS is a key Australian information resource providing access to literature in the social sciences and humanities from 1978 to the present. It consists of over 330 000 records with about 12 000 new articles being indexed annually. The National Library and RMIT Publishing, through this agreement, are extending access to Australian online content for more Australian libraries. APAIS pay per search will be available with the next release of Libraries Australia due at the end of May. APAIS will be added to the list of databases which can be selected for searching on its own or as part of a federated search with other databases, including the Australian National Bibliographic Database, within the Libraries Australia interface. Future releases of Libraries Australia will enable access to the full text of articles with a link to the Informit pay per view service (use this link for Informit pay per view) <http://www.informit.com.au/ppv.asp>. Kinetica will track your library’s usage of APAIS through your Kinetica login and password or IP authentication and will invoice you quarterly. Kinetica will also provide regular usage reports so that libraries can monitor their expenditure on this service. Libraries wanting to take advantage of APAIS pay per search or wanting more information on this or Kinetica membership should contact the Kinetica Helpdesk on 1800 026 155 or by email at kinetica@nla.gov.au |
