Thank you Australian libraries!
There are now over 40 million items in Australia 's national catalogue!
The Australian National Bibliographic Database, hosted by the National Library of Australia, has just achieved an important milestone. The database, at the heart of resource discovery and sharing activities in the Australian library community, now contains records of the collections and location details of over 40 million items held in Australian academic, research, national, state, public and special libraries.
Australian libraries and their clients use the database to find items of interest for document delivery or collection development, to share cataloguing data, to view online resources and to keep up-to-date in areas of interest. Over 1000 libraries throughout Australia utilise the Libraries Australia service and the majority contribute to the database.
Libraries Australia, launched late last year, enables Australian libraries and their users to easily find and locate library material listed in the database—Australian and overseas publications such as books, journals, maps, music, newspapers, electronic resources, items in other languages and pictures and to either view online or request via interlibrary loan.
With the new subscription model you can utilise the collections of Australian libraries easily and effectively—contact the Kinetica Helpdesk on 1800 026 155 or by email at kinetica@nla.gov.au if you have any enquiries.
Thanks for your contributions.
