Among recent visitors to the National Library of Australia were a small group from the Perpustakaan Negara Malaysia , and two staff of the Koninklijke Bibliotheek in the Netherlands .
Perpustakaan Negara Malaysia ( Malaysia ’s national library) is planning a major bibliographic development. Three staff—Primalani Kukesan, Mohamed Azri Hassan and Anisatul-Wahidah Abdul Wahid—spent three days at the National Library of Australia, looking at how the Kinetica Redevelopment Project was managed. They examined some of the National Library of Australia's online services, and talked to staff involved in the specification, tendering and development for Libraries Australia.
Koninklijke Bibliotheek staff members Perry Moree and Jan Bos were investigating holdings of early Dutch travel journals in the National Library of Australia and the Mitchell Library. They plan to include these and other items on a CD-ROM that will be released this year as part of the celebrations for the 400th anniversary of early Dutch exploration in this region. Perry and Jan were very surprised at the wealth of material held in both libraries, including many items not widely held in the Netherlands .
