Kevin McCann

National Library of Australia Council Member

On 15 December 2005 , the Governor-General appointed Mr Kevin McCann AM as a part-time non-executive member of the Council of the National Library of Australia for a term of three years.

Kevin McCann is a distinguished lawyer who has spent 30 years in corporate and commercial law. He holds a Master of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts and he is a director of a number of publicly listed companies with experience in finance and commercial matters. He is also a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Kevin McCann currently holds the Chairmanship of Origin Energy Limited, Healthscope Limited, Triako Resources Limited and the Sydney Harbour Federation Trust. He is lead independent Director of Macquarie Bank Limited, a director of BlueScope Steel Limited, and a member of the Takeovers Panel and the Defence Procurement Advisory Board.

Kevin McCann was formerly Chairman and Partner of Allens Arthur Robinson, Solicitors and a former Director of Ambri Limited and Macquarie Communications Infrastructure Group. He has also served on the boards of Pioneer International Limited, Ampol Limited and the State Rail Authority of NSW.

Since 2004, Kevin McCann has been the inaugural Chair of the National Library’s Development Council, which advises on Library fundraising and development initiatives.

Kevin McCann was awarded an AM in 2005 for service to law in the areas of mining, corporate and commercial law, and to business and the community. Kevin brings to the Council his extensive legal, commercial and business management expertise and a personal interest in the collection of antiquarian books and knowledge communication.

He resides in Sydney.
