A new Libraries Australia Customer Services Team

2007 has seen a significant change to staff in the Library’s Resource Sharing Division.

The Customer Services team welcomed three new members: Karen Mackney, the Libraries Australia Marketing Manager and State User Group Liaison Officer; Mary-Louise Weight, Libraries Australia Document Delivery, Training & Library Schools Support Officer; and Donna Smith, ALG & ILRS Directories and Administrative Support Officer.

Karen previously worked for the Southern Tablelands Regional Library Service in Goulburn as Client Services Coordinator. Karen has a wealth of expertise in Readers Advisors Services, Reference Services and Electronic Services, including the marketing and promotion of these library services, events and exhibitions.

Mary-Louise has come from the Bendigo Regional Institute of TAFE, where she spent 11 years teaching mainly in the area of Work Education for young people with additional learning needs and coordinating their Practical Placement program. Mary-Louise has experience in teaching Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment & Training, and delivered Communication Skills modules over a range of areas.

Donna has transferred within the National Library from the Reader Services Branch, Newspaper and Microform Reading Room, where she facilitated reference enquiries, interlibrary loans and document delivery requests.

In addition, Emma Corbett has taken on a new role as Libraries Australia Search and Administration Manager, Web and Libraries Australia Training Coordinator. David Ong, previously Senior Database Administrator for the Libraries Australia Document Delivery Service, has been promoted to the position of Manager responsible for the Libraries Australia Customer Services team.

With Emma and Mary-Louise, stalwarts Gwyn Wilding, Peter Cobcroft and Lucy Carson continue to provide support for various roles including reporting, website information updates, the ALG and ILRS Directory Services and the Libraries Australia Help Desk.

Lastly, Debbie Campbell joined the Resource Sharing Division as Director, Collaborative Services Branch—which brings discovery services including Libraries Australia and Picture Australia to Australian libraries and the public. With our colleagues in the National Bibliographic Database Services Branch, we are looking forward to the challenge of bringing new enhancements to these services while ensuring their ongoing usability.
