numbers to their facilities, many are seeking new ways of balancing the traditional needs of library users with their need to interact with others in the ever-changing cyber world. The National Library has responded creatively with the opening of a new lounge area on its Lower Ground Floor.

The new area provides a space where laptop users can access library facilities in an environment conducive to working, meeting with friends or just relaxing.

The lounge area has numerous power outlets where patrons can ‘plug-in’ and use their laptops. It is also one of the designated hotspots in the building where you can simply power on your personal wireless-enabled device and have free access to the library’s Wi-Fi network. Wi-Fi is available from all public areas of the library and outside the perimeter of the building.

Also on offer in the space is paperplate, the latest addition to the Library’s award–winning facilities. Environmentally-friendly focused paperplate offers patrons a variety of fresh, inexpensive food and means visitors can choose to take away snacks or eat while they work.

Fitted out with contemporary and colourful furnishings of easy chairs and coffee tables, the National Library’s new lounge area is a great spot to balance work and relaxation.
