Irina Baronova was one of Colonel de Basil's celebrated 'baby
ballerinas' and began performing with de Basil in his Ballets Russes de
Monte Carlo at the age of 13. She toured Australia with the Covent
Garden Russian Ballet in 1938-39. She was a great favourite with
Australian audiences and was admired for both her classical purity and
her expressive powers.
