The
Garden Palace, an imposing, specially constructed building in the
Domain, Sydney, housed Australia’s first international trade exhibition
in 1879. Following the exhibition it was intended the building would
serve as a museum. Before this plan was realised however, the Garden
Palace was destroyed by fire in 1882.
