The
Don McMurdo Performing Arts Collection covers dance, opera and theatre
and includes thousands of images from individual Australian
performances. Don McMurdo worked as a commercial photographer in Sydney
and Melbourne before taking up a 13-year appointment as the sole
photographer with the Sydney Opera House Trust. Fittingly, superb
photographs of the Opera House complement the many performance images
in this stunning acquisition. McMurdo’s son, Terry, recently donated
the second section of the collection to the National Library under the
Cultural Gifts Program.
