[Costume design for the Spirit of Australia in TerraAustralis,
Borovansky Ballet, 1946]
Manuscript Collection, MS 9610
Reproduced with kind permission of Jim Fullarton
The
papers of Eve Harris (MS 9610) were donated to the Library by Harris’s
husband, Jim Fullarton, in 2002. The collection comprises costume and
set designs for Edouard Borovansky’s ballet Terra Australis. Terra
Australis was created in 1946 as an all-Australian production and was
danced by the Borovansky Ballet. Harris produced several drawings for
the dress to be worn by the leading female character in Terra
Australis, the Spirit of Australia. Her design in red, black and yellow
ochre colours was never used but reflects the strength of Harris’s
commitment to the Australian theme of the ballet.
