Australian Ephemera Collection
nla.aus-vn2594003-1x
The charming designs and bright colours of the apple box labels that form part of the National Library’s Ephemera Collection reflect a period in Australia’s history of agriculture and industry, and give an insight into the way in which Australia has been marketed at home and overseas. Material in the Australian Ephemera Collection includes pamphlets, leaflets, handbills, invitations, cards, menus and programs. Larger publications, such as theatre programs and trade catalogues, are also included. Sometimes puzzling, often intriguing and always entertaining, the Library’s Ephemera Collection is designed to provide a record of Australian life and social customs, popular culture, national events, and issues of national concern.
