This Tom Roberts bookplate made for Barbara Lane Mullins is one of a wide range of plates to be found in the National Library’s Collection, sometimes in company with the actual plate or printers block from which they were made. In the 1920s, when bookplates were booming, the plate-makers and the people for whom the plates were made formed a close network of writers, artists, printers, publishers, gallery-owners and promoters.
