Heysen gift cards are also available here Information on author: Lou Klepac, born 1936 in former Yugoslavia, developed his interest in art in Venice where he lived as a child. He emigrated to Australia in 1950 and was educated at Perth Modern School and the University of Western Australia. From 1958-64 he lived in Europe (mainly London and Venice) where he visited all the great art collections. He returned to Perth in 1964 and became the Curator of Paintings at The Art Gallery of Western Australia (1964-66). He was Curator of Paintings at The Art Gallery of South Australia (1966-70) in Adelaide where he also lectured in the School of Architecture at the University of Adelaide and was the art critic for the Adelaide News. After five years in London (1970-74) he returned to Perth and was Senior Curator and then Deputy Director of the Art Gallery of Western Australia (1974-80). He has organised many exhibitions and is the author of several books including Nora Heysen 1989 and 2000, and Judy Cassab, Portraits of Artists and Friends, 1998. He was a founder member of the Australian Art Galleries Association, a member of AICA for twenty-five years and has been President of the Frederick May Foundation for Italian Studies, Sydney University. He has been a member of the Advisory Committee of the National Trust of Australia's S. H. Ervin Gallery since 1984. In 1980 he was appointed Cavaliere della Repubblica Italiana for his services to Italian art. He was awarded an OAM in 1996.
