Compiled
and edited by Joy Hooton. Joy was born in the UK and has a Batchelor of
Arts and a Master of Philosophy from London. She is one of the three authors
of the Oxford Companion to Australian Literature (Oxford University
Press, 1985, 1994), which won a New South Wales Premier’s Prize. She has
compiled several bibliographies of Australian literature and has written
extensively on life-writing. Her most substantial work on the subject
is Stories of Herself When Young (OUP, 1990).
