Each year, the Friends of the National Library of Australia celebrate the work of an eminent figure in the world of Australian literature and publishing. This publication celebrates the remarkable contribution of Ruth Park.

Compiled and edited by Joy Hooton. Joy was born in the UK and has a Batchelor of Arts and a Master of Philosophy from London. She is one of the three authors of the Oxford Companion to Australian Literature (Oxford University Press, 1985, 1994), which won a New South Wales Premier’s Prize. She has compiled several bibliographies of Australian literature and has written extensively on life-writing. Her most substantial work on the subject is Stories of Herself When Young (OUP, 1990).
