Visit the Pictures and Manuscripts Reading Room to view material from the Library’s Pictures and Manuscripts collections. Including:
- Over 10,000 manuscripts collections including the personal papers of notable Australians and the archives of many national non-government organisations.
- Over 800,000 pictures including oil paintings, watercolours, drawings, prints, photographs and posters.
- Reference books and finding aids to help you use the collections.
The Pictures and Manuscripts Reading Room is located on Level 2 and is open Monday–Friday 9 am–5 pm (except public holidays).
We may be able to arrange delivery to the Petherick Reading Room for use on evenings and Saturdays. Ask a Librarian if you would like to view material outside our regular opening hours but please request your material and advise us no later than 3.45pm on the respective day.
Group viewings of material from the Pictures collection are available on request.
