Introduction

The Library holds a large collection relating to both Australian and international statistics.  These statistics cover all subject areas, including demography, economics, industry and trade, and represent both current and historical data. This guide contains selected print and microfilm works only. 

Catalogue Search Tips

To search for works about statistics, select the Browse subjects option and enter the term Statistics.  Add a statistical method to narrow your search.  Some examples of Browse subjects searches are:

Catalogue of Publications and Products A comprehensive reference to statistical information published by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).  It lists ABS publications by subject and also provides title and subject indexes.  This publication has changed title over the years and each new title has its own record in the catalogue.  See the Former Title section of the catalogue record.  The latest issue, listing products released in the last few years, is held in Reference. 
 
Statistics Sources An alphabetically arranged guide to current sources of statistical information, leading users to a range of print and electronic resources for economic, business, financial, industrial, cultural, social and educational data.  The latest issue is held in Reference.  Sq 310.16 STA

The Europa World Year Book Provides statistical summaries for all countries on population, health, agriculture, finance, industry, economics, transport, media and education.  This publication has changed title over the years and each new title has its own record in the catalogue.  See the Former Title section of the catalogue record.  The latest issue is held in Reference. 

Whitaker’s Almanack Provides statistical summaries for all countries, including area, population and finance.  This publication has changed title over the years and each new title has its own record in the catalogue.  See the Former Title section of the catalogue record.  The latest issue is held in Reference. 

The SBS World Guide Provides a fact file on every country, including statistical information on population and demography, economy, bioresources, industry, communications, education, and defence.  
 
Eurostat Yearbook Official yearbook of Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities.  Provides statistical information on population, economics, environment, science, finance and agriculture presented in graphical form.  The latest issue is held in Reference. 
 
Monthly Bulletin of Statistics Published by the United Nation’s Department of Economic and Social Affairs this publication presents monthly economic statistics for most of the countries and territories of the world.  This publication has changed title over the years and each new title has its own record in the catalogue.  See the Former Title section of the catalogue record.

Microfiche reproduction of the publications and statistical compilations produced by Australia's six colonial statistical bureaus and their precursors, as listed and indexed in: Catalogue of Australian Statistical Publications, 1804-1901: Statistics Collected by the Six Colonial Statistical Bureaus from 1804 to 1901.  
 
Historical Microfiche Series: Statistical Publications Since Federation
This series complements the Colonial Microfiche series and contains publications released by the Central Office of the Australian Bureau of Statistics since 1901, and publications issued by the State offices since 1984.  Includes an Index to the Historical Microfiche Series: Statistical Publications since Federation.  The index will be updated annually to coincide with the release of further fiche supplements.  RM mcN 341.  Available in the Newspapers and Microforms Reading Room.

Draws on a range of official statistical sources, usually complied by governments and official bodies of each country, to present comparative data on economic and population statistics.
