Overview

At the core of the Festival program are photographic exhibitions by several of the national collecting institutions.

These exhibitions, and many of the exhibitions by the local cultural organisations, are open for the full length of the Festival. The Festival opening week included an international conference hosted by The Australian National University.

July to October 2008 is an excellent time to invite visitors to Canberra—friends, family, colleagues and students with an interest in photography.

The exciting program of Festival events includes the projection of photographic images on to the exteriors of buildings, a folio night when Australia’s photographers will be able to show their work to buyers from Canberra’s collecting institutions, award ceremonies for both professional and amateur photographers, a trade show, master classes, seminars, talks and tours.

Australian Photo Festivals

Vivid 2008 is part of a lively program of photography festivals in Australia, including FotoFreo, the Queensland Festival of Photography and the Daylesford Foto Biennale.

Vivid, the National Photography Festival, is being held for the first time in Canberra from 11 July to 12 October 2008. It celebrates the vital role
of photography in Australian life
and history.
