ACT Environment and Planning Directorate - Planning: The ACT Environment and Planning Directorate - Planning is responsible for the naming of public places in the ACT (nomenclature). Public places include districts, divisions (suburbs), streets, parks and geographical features. This part of the ACT Environment and Planning Directorate web site includes general information on Canberra's place names, names Acts, naming policies, origins of district and suburb names and the Place Names Committee.

3. FreeAlphabetical list of place names NSW

Geographical Names Board of NSW: This book was compiled in 1954 by a Lands Officer, the late Ernest C. Gleeson, and it alphabetically lists all the place names in the NSW Eastern and Central Division Parish Maps at that time. There are an estimated 22,500 name entries in this list (some of which no longer exist). Information includes place name, county, parish, land district, pastures protection district and local government authority.

Old Antique Map Price Record includes the most up-to-date information on the antique maps market. The database currently contains over 20,000 entries of recent dealer and auction records, representing over 1,000 mapmakers. This data was compiled from the offerings of over 100 dealer and auction catalogs, representing the quickest way to investigate map prices and study trade in cartographic materials. 5. FreeArrowsmith's Australian maps

eScholarship Research Centre, University of Melbourne: Digital copies of maps relating to Australia found in John Arrowsmith's London Atlas, which through successive editions, had a life of 24 years, from 1834 until 1858. Also includes references to the appearance of these maps in publications other than the atlas and as part of Arrowsmith's map stock available for individual purchase.

American Geological Institute: AusGeoRef is a subset of the GeoRef database published by the American Geological Institute. It contains more than 170,000 bibliographic references to Australian geoscience literature and is regularly updated. References are drawn from journal literature, meeting proceedings and abstracts, books, reports and maps. References contain complete bibliographic information and URLs for documents published on the web.

Geoscience Australia: Provides an authoritative understanding of Australia's known mineral and energy (solid fuel) assets, mines and production/processing centres (existing and planned). The Atlas is continually being updated with new mineral resource, location data and company web links

9. OnsiteAustralias national geosciences, minerals and petroleum reference database - AESIS

RMIT Publishing: This database includes Australian-generated published and unpublished documented materials over the full range of the geosciences, minerals and petroleum. From 1979 it also covers material published on continental Australia by non-Australian sources. Source documents include over 600 journal titles, monographs in series, books, conference papers and proceedings, technical reports, maps, theses, and unpublished and open-file reports predominantly from the State Geological Surveys and Department of Mines and Geoscience Australia.
