Summary subject collecting information (definitions of the ALG collecting levels are available for reference):
Comments: This is the main subject area of our collection but the collection is specialised rather than exhaustive, containing very little general material. It is used for our own research into provision of services to people with disability. We also have a collection of material for parents of children with cerebral palsy on cerebral palsy and related disabilities.
Highlights of the collection: A small but highly specialised collection with materials in the subject area of physical disability including both therapy and social issues relating to disability. Therapies covered include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and the use of specialised equipment to provide independent living skills. Family centred services, pediatric therapy and education of children with cerebral palsy are sub-specialities.
The collection also features almost complete collections of the Journal " Developmental Medicine and Child Neurology" and the series "Clinics in Developmental Medicine" as well as holdings of major physiotherapy and occupational therapy journals.
