    Comments: The Performing Arts Collection is Australia's largest and most important collection of performing arts history and traditions covering the major collecting areas of Circus, Dance, Opera, Music and Theatre. Established in the 1970s, the Performing Arts Collection now numbers over 640,000 items including photographs, costumes, stage designs, objects, programmes, historical documents and ephemera.

Highlights of the collection: Dame Nellie Melba costume collection, Kylie Minogue costume collection, Nick Cave personal archive, Bell Shakespeare collection, The Australian Ballet collection, Barry Humphries collection, Juke Magazine archive, J.C. Williamson Theatres collection, Gordon Frost collection, Laurie Richards photography collection.
