Mapping our World
A sneak peak at our blockbuster exhibition
1 November 2013
It is almost upon us! The great Mapping our World: Terra Incognita to Australia exhibition that so many of us here at the library have been working on for so long is almost ready for opening day on Thursday the 7th of November. As well as drawing on the National Library’s own collection of maps, it also brings together items from some of Australia’s best private collections. Approximately one third of the displayed items are international loans from organisations including the British Library, The Vatican Library, the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana in Venice and the Bibliotheque Nationale de France. To show everyone how our curators have put this exhibition together and give you an insight into the planning process, we've created this video. Not to be forgotten, we also would like to highlight the work of the registrars (below) who install the exhibition and ensure that all the objects are well looked after.
