In this lecture, part of Sydney Pen’s ‘Free Voices’ series, Dr Tim Soutphommasane explores whether it is time for friendship to return to our thinking about public life. Dr Tim Soutphommasane is a political philosopher and was recently appointed Australia’s Race Discrimination Commissioner. His recent books include Don’t Go Back to Where You Came From: Why Multiculturalism Works (2012) and The Virtuous Citizen: Patriotism in a Multicultural Society (2012).
