Women have been told how to look, what size their feet should be and whether they were human enough to vote. They have been told what shape to be, what colour to be and that riding a bicycle will give them ‘bicycle face’.

Take a tour through 500 years of advice to women, from the clergy to the Kardashians, with author and cartoonist Kaz Cooke.

Kaz identifies themes in instructions given to women about their appearance, morals, motherhood and more.

Kaz Cooke is a 2019 National Library of Australia Fellow supported by the Stokes family.
