Libraries Australia has started loading authority records through Libraries Australia Data Contribution Service (formerly RIS) but the procedure is different from that used for bibliographic and holdings records.
The procedure is different for two reasons. The first is that contribution of authority records is still being developed. Libraries Australia is at the stage where matching is done by numbers only. The second is that the data in an authority record is different from a bibliographic record in that there are fewer pieces of data that can be used for consistently accurate matching.
The parts for authority records that still are being developed are:
the parts that can determine which record is better and should be kept
the similarity algorithm based on data elements from the authority record that can be used to match authority records without system numbers.
