You will learn how to:

  • search the Australian National Bibliographic Database (ANBD) using Simple and Advanced search

  • select a range of other databases for searching

  • learn about search rules

  • view records and sort results

  • save and email records

  • add and edit holdings

  • download records

  • use enhanced requesting to get a loan or copy.

Duration: 1 day

Suitable for: Members new to Libraries Australia Search.

 

Getting started with Document Delivery (LADD basics)

An introduction to Libraries Australia Document Delivery (LADD) for new users.

You will learn how to:

  • search for and display bibliographic records

  • create requests

  • send, receive and process requests

  • track and monitor the status of requests

  • use DocStore to attach, send and receive electronic documents

  • send a message or note to a lender or borrower

  • search for and view organisations' addresses and other details 

  • set up reciprocal lending and borrowing arrangements between libraries

  • create and print reports about your library’s interlibrary loan activity.

Duration: Full day

Suitable for: Members who want to start using Libraries Australia Document Delivery to borrow and lend items between libraries for their users.

 

Continuing with Document Delivery (LADD refresher)

A refresher for more experienced interlibrary loan practitioners, including a review of Libraries Australia Document Delivery and an introduction to the new features introduced in recent upgrades.  

You will:

  • review the main features of Libraries Australia Document Delivery
  • learn about new features, including changes to reports, Work Queues, rotas and customisation
  • have an opportunity to share tips and ideas with your ILL colleagues.

Duration: Half day

Suitable for: Experienced users of Libraries Australia Document Delivery. 

Getting started with Document Delivery—self-paced study

For Libraries Australia members who want to start using Libraries Australia Document Delivery but are unable to attend a Getting Started with Document Delivery course in person.

Members undertaking self-paced study:

  • work through the Libraries Australia Document Delivery Manual and exercises independently

  • have access to a trainer who can answer questions

  • undertake an assessment on completion of their self-paced study.

Cataloguing with confidence (Libraries Australia Cataloguing Client)

A comprehensive introduction to using the Libraries Australia Cataloguing Client.

You will learn how to:

  • search for records using the Search screen and Command line search

  • view records and navigate through sets

  • browse indexes

  • create bibliographic records

  • edit and copy existing bibliographic records

  • use templates to create new records

  • add and edit holdings statements

  • create and use authority records

  • customise the Client’s interface to suit your library’s needs.

Duration: Two days

Suitable for: Members who want to start using the Libraries Australia Cataloguing Client to catalogue directly to the Australian National Bibliographic Database (ANBD).

Familiarity with cataloguing processes and an understanding of MARC format are essential.
