NLA Fellowships now open

NLA Fellowships now open
16 February 2018

Researchers are invited to apply for the 2019 National Library of Australia Fellowships.

Funded Fellowships are offered in 2019 to researchers from Australia and overseas and established or emerging scholars. The Fellowships support researchers undertake 12 weeks of intensive research using the National Library of Australia’s extraordinary 10 million item collection.

Director-General of the National Library of Australia, Dr Marie-Louise Ayres, encourages scholars to apply for the 2019 Fellowships round.  These include two newly established Fellowships: one for Curatorial Research (supported by the Patrons and Supporters of the Library's Treasures Gallery Access program), and a Fellowship supported by the Minerals Council of Australia for research across a range of disciplines.

‘Our Fellowship program is flourishing, thanks to the generosity of donors who have invested in curiosity – past and present members of the National Library of Australia Council, the Harold S. Williams Trust, the Eva Kollsman and Ray Mathew Trust, and the Library’s patrons and supporters.

‘With their help, we can once again offer funded Fellowships to outstanding applicants working on exceptional projects that stimulate new discovery and discourse, inspired by the Library’s astonishing collections.’

With its world class collection of books, manuscripts, photographs, oral histories, music and maps, the National Library of Australia is a focus for research, intellectual and creative endeavour. Recipients of the Fellowships will enjoy in-depth access to this rich resource and the Library’s expert staff, a supportive working environment and financial assistance.

All applications for the 2019 NLA fellowships will be assessed on merit and some honorary fellowships may also be awarded.

Researchers are invited to apply now for the 2019 round with applications closing on 30 April 2018.
