- Manuscript map of Baluchistan in Pakistan. The map features roads for carts and horses with rest houses. Distances between towns are shown in red and spot heights are shown in blue. The map has been partially annotated in red.
- Signature on map as "M. Dealy", qualified as Major R.E.
- Major John Anderson Dealy received his commission in the Royal Engineers in 1884. After serving a subaltern with a company of the Madras Sappers and Miners during the Upper Burman operations of 1888, he was promoted to Captain in 1892 then Major in 1900. He was C.R.E. at Loralai between 1901-1902 then C.R.E. at Sirhind District in 1903. Following various positions in the Military Works and Public Works Department, he was promoted Lieutenant-Colonel in October 1909 then Colonel in 1913. During WWI he served in France as Assistant Director of Works. At the end of 1915 he left France and appointed C.R.E. under General Smith-Dorrien in East Africa and involved the campaign against German East Africa. He left Africa in 1917 returning to India as the C.R.E. 4th (Quetta) Division as well as Secretary to the Acting Governor-General of Baluchistan.
