Some soldiers were seconded to the Mounted Police from their regiments. This will be noted in the Muster Roll of the Regiment each quarter.
The service of a Mounted Policeman in New South Wales may be tracked in the Troop order books, Sydney 1828-1841 in the National Library. The Troop Order books for 1841-1850 are held by the New South Wales Archives as Orders to Mounted Police troops.
In Victoria infantrymen from British regiments formed the Military Mounted Police from 1825 to 1850.
