Work has started to renovate our reading rooms and make our public spaces fit for a twenty-first century National Library. Our current six reading rooms will be integrated into three large, modern spaces, beginning with a new Special Collections Reading Room on the first floor.
Scheduled to open Monday 5 January 2015, the Special Collections Reading Room will give readers and visitors access to the Library’s pictures, maps, manuscripts, oral history, music, ephemera and rare printed material in one place. Changes to follow include an expanded Main Reading Room with a dedicated family history zone and an enlarged paperplate café and informal study area on Lower Ground 1.
Come and hear more about how we are building you a better National Library.
