Although it is dated 1618, this remarkably accurate map by Hessel Gerritsz has much later discoveries on it, up to the sighting of the north-west coast by the Vianen in 1628. The lower part of the chart shows the coastlines of western and southern Australia. It is thought to be the map that Abel Tasman used in 1642.
