This most embellished map of the East Indies, by Pieter Goos, is probably datable to 1658, with this version being printed in 1666. It is the first newly engraved map to name all the Dutch discoveries in Australia including Tasman's 1644 voyage to the north. Like other maps that began to appear at this time, a coastline is shown at Torres Strait.
