If you are interested in learning more about the Library then consider joining one of the daily tours offered by our trained Volunteer Guides, who have a passion for sharing their knowledge of the Library and its collections. These tours are free but bookings are essential. 

Special tours of exhibitions or building art and architecture are also available by arrangement.

Discover your National Library 

Daily Tours

Discover the history and collecting activities of the Library and how you can access and use our collections. You will visit the reading rooms and learn about its public artworks. You will see some remarkable items from the Collections that is yours and growing! Our passionate volunteer guides reveal the stories of some of our unique and most-valued treasures.

These tours are free to attend and depart from the Foyer. Bookings are essential. Tours are subject to volunteer guide availability. In the event of a cancellation, ticketholders will be advised as soon as possible.

Art and Architecture of the Library

There is more to the Library than books! Find out how many different types of marble were used in its construction as you are guided through the public areas. Background stories will reveal amazing facts.

A minimum of two weeks' notice is required for groups of 10 or more people.
