Featuring the stunning new novel by Edwina Preston, Bad Art Mother; individuals and book clubs are encouraged to read the novel and sign up to the Canberra Writer's Festival newsletter to participate in Canberra’s Biggest Book Club. The CWF will be posting a reading guide and book club questions along with regular insights from the author. You will also have priority access to the event at Kambri, ANU on Saturday 19 August.

Shortlisted for the 2023 Stella Prize and the 2023 Christina Stead Award for Fiction, Bad Art Mother examines relationships between women and creativity, women and selfishness, women and their children, and women and the world at large.

About Beejay Silcox

Beejay is a sought-after writer, commentator, critic and moderator for interviews, book launches and writers festivals. In the last year she has appeared at festivals in Canberra, Newcastle and Melbourne, along with the prestigious Cheltenham Literary Festival. She has brought acuity and verve to the judging panels for a number of Australia's most prestigious grants and literary prizes. She was a judge for the 2023 Stella Prize and will also judge next year's Calibre Essay Prize. Her long-form essays, cultural and political commentary and reviews regularly appear in national publications, including Australian Book Review (ABR),The Age, Guardian Australia and The Australian. Beejay was appointed to the ABR Board in 2022.
