This two page newspaper, ‘Published twice a week for Australians abroad,’ gives headlines and summaries for major news items as well as local news. There is also a business digest and sporting highlights from Australia. The Library has issues from 1960-1975.

The Argus indexes

The Library holds indexes, both general and specific, to a large number of Australian newspapers.

General indexes may list the broad range of topics reported on whilst specific indexes may just include references to birth, death and marriage notices.

To find if the Library holds an Index for an Australian newspaper title:

Go to the catalogueclick on the Browse alphabetically tab and select Subjects from the Browse menu option and enter the name of the newspaper followed by the word, 'indexes'. For example:

sydney morning herald indexes

To find indexes relating to a particular location, select the Browse Subjects option and enter the country name, followed by 'newspapers', followed by the state and town and then 'indexes'. For example:

australian newspapers new south wales sydney indexes
